I use su root to ask to get in to root user and enter my simple either easy numerical password or alphanumeric password depending on my iteration of the développer mode uneven tried letting the password fields empty and the using the default password test0000 to no avail. I put the chrome book back in regular mode while pressing spacebar at start up and power washing then going back to developper mode and retrying with still the same results. I copy paste most of the commands from great stuff I get off google. I am writing this from my android tablet from memory and may have fudged out some commands I use since I am recalling them from memory. I am obviously a Linux newbie but I am trying to make the best use of my expired c300m Chromebook with amazing battery life while hoping to learn Linux along the way. I tried using the commands you provide in your tutorial in developer console and they don't seem to work or be functional at all in developer console. My root one that works fine in developer console doesn't work so terminal is useless I'm stuck as chronos in terminal. But I cannot log in to terminal (ctrl +alt + t) then shell as root and if I don't and try the commands it invariably asks for a password. My root password and user function in développer console ( ctrl+alt + right arrow (f2) ). Hi everyone and thanks for the great tutorial! I put my Asus c300m notebook Chromebook in developer mode tool out the de screw and created a password for developers ( root ) when it asks me to at the beginning of the setup of the développer mode after power wash. Congratulations, you have reached the shell.įrom now on, whenever you turn your Chromebook on, a warning screen will pop up. After you do this, say hello to Developer Mode. Eventually your computer will reboot, and you will be asked to go through the initial setup process. You will then be greeted with a screen saying something like, "To turn OS Verification off press enter." At this point, press enter. After it turns off and reboots (this should happen near instantly), you will be met by a screen saying something along the lines of, "ChromeOS is missing or damaged." Don't fret, your computer is fine. Simply press and hold the esc and refresh keys, and tap the power button. Don't worry, because this is incredibly simple. Before you do anything, you will have to put your Chromebook into Developer Mode *cue pretentious music*.
